YOU MAY FEEL LIKE ASKING: WHY DO YOU ASK!?

TWO CAMPS

What do you tell people when they ask about your writing?

Some ask out of politeness; some ask out of curiosity.

The polite can be sent to the website or blog. Whereas, the curious might be beta readers or become potential readers.
Much depends on how old and tech savvy your friends are.

A few inquire because they have little conversation for you. The question equals making conversation. Essentially, your hobby or profession remains a mystery to them.  If you tell them about a blog, their eyes glaze.

WHAT DOES YOUR BLOG SAY?

The curious may search on line but fail to understand the concept of a ‘making-of’ blog. Sharing the creative process or connecting with other authors makes little sense to non-writers. Quite kindly, they may ask why they cannot buy your book.

If you answer that it’s not yet published, the same acquaintances will describe a neighbour, colleague or distant relative who self-published easily with tremendous success.

WHAT DO YOU SAY?

Keep nodding your head wordlessly, smile and keep writing!

And always: Thanks for reading!
